WHAT PART WILL YOU HAVE THIS YEAR IN FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION BY SENDING THE LIGHT OF GOD’S WORD TO THE LOST AND DYING WORLD?
February is National Bible Publishing Month and we will be raising funds towards the printing of Bibles that are distributed free. Pray that our church can make a substantial contribution to further the work of printing the Word of God. What a worthy cause! If you know of anyone who needs a Bible, please let Pastor Cusick know.
Imagine for a moment a man on a busy street somewhere in a foreign land, as he opens a box filled with Scriptures. A tear of joy trickles down his face as he quietly thanks the Lord for those who cared enough to send God’s Word in the language of his people. Then he reaches in the box and pulls out a copy. At that moment, a young man walks by and the man places the book in his hand. The young man takes the book, and with much curiosity, finds a quiet place to sit. As he opens the book to read its pages, he is introduced to the Lord Jesus Christ for the first time. The Light has finally arrived.
National Bible Publishing Month is a special emphasis to supply Bibles and Scripture portions to the world through our church and the ministry of Bearing Precious Seed. It is a time when the congregation brings their offerings to assist in the publishing of the Word of God. Bearing Precious Seed’s mission has always been to work through the local church to provide the Word of God free of charge to a world in desperate need.
In much of the world, reading the Bible is a privilege people cannot enjoy. In fact, more people than ever before have yet to see a copy of the Word of God. We are told that of the world’s 6,809 languages, only 405 have the complete Bible translated and printed. Another 1,034 have only the New Testament, leaving nearly 5,370 languages with less than the New Testament in written form. Bible translation and publishing is a crucial need in our world today.
For more than thirty years, Bearing Precious Seed has been a ministry providing Scriptures free of charge worldwide. We have distributed the Word of God under the auspices of missionaries and nationals to six continents. So, the challenge is not only to print the Scriptures, but also to distribute them freely, in order that the world might hear about Jesus Christ. To teach all nations, as stated in Matthew 28:18-20, is a command given by our Lord Jesus Christ. Your offerings for National Bible Publishing Month will supply paper and materials for the publishing of Scriptures to accomplish such a great task.
